Fogo Island Inn, Newfoundland

Our remote work takes us far and wide. This time, an island off the northeast coast of Newfoundland surrounded by the Atlantic. As an archetypal coastal barrens landscape, it is both robust (given the rock, salt air, winds and thinness of soil) and sensitive (given the plants have clung to life in these specific circumstances). Grading, surfacing, invasive species, sub-drainage and the effect of climate change are all in consideration.
